Benjamin did his thing at Wingate. First of all te city of Wingate is a
quaint secluded little college town. However the University is a top of
the line facility. The grounds were impeccable and there are a plethera
of brand-new buildings. This game was an exhibition between the Akron Winged Foots, a NABL travelling team and the Wingate university team.
I took some pictures of the action, but my camera is not that advanced
so you will have to make due with pictures that I did get to take.
Benjamin was surprised to see me, but you know I am always down to come
check him out while he schooling some cats in the fine art of
basketball-ology ( I made that up all by myself).
Check out the rest of the article.......
Benjamin had a very controlled game, reminiscent of his days at NC
State. Even though the guys were smaller and lighter, he did not take
the easy way out by knocking them out of the way; even though he is
capable. He efficiently sliced through the lane, and positioned hisself
for the shots that he wanted to take. Time and time again he boxed out
and outwitted the opponent to grab a ton of offensive and defensive
rebounds. With a wingspan of 8' 6", snagging rebounds is child's play
for him.
Benjamin is always joking around and was all but to happy to
take this picture after the game. Oh, I bent his ear for a few minutes
critiquing his game like a big brother should. However, he was hearing
it.
Even though it may seem that I have a biased opinion of Benjamin 's
skillz, I do not. I have the correct opinion of Benjamin's skillz.
This is one of the few breathers that Benjamin took during the game. He
banged and bruised those guys all night long. Soon after this picture,
someone brought him some refreshments so that he'd have a little bit
more left in his tank.
Benjamin hooked up with this team when he received an invitation from Bobby Rouse who is associated with the Akron WingedFoots who he impressed while at the SEBL event in Atlanta, GA.
